CBS: Fake Soldiers Used in RNC Video
“It was a video that was supposed to elicit soaring patriotism and real emotions about the Pledge of Allegiance. But to do that, it used fake soldiers and a staged military funeral instead of the real thing,” writes Michael Rey.
Just when you think that Republicans can’t sink any lower (after hearing the speeches of Lieberman, Gulianni Palin and Graham), they do, using fake soldiers in their “patriotism ad”. The fact that military personnel donated 6 times more to Obama than to McCain might explain why finding real soldiers willing to pass off the McCain campaign “anti-liberal” crap may be 6 times harder than if Obama engaged in similar Rovian-like fakery, which he doesn’t and those who support him know why — it wouldn’t even feel right. For some reason, the left hasn’t mastered the psycho talk so all we know is how to respond to it — but then again, to avoid a mindless bully, we just have to know how it’s done and not forget that in the process, we can enjoy every bit of it.

This bright and colorful book is a great way to introduce your young American reader to the Pledge of Allegiance. Very well-written book. It could use more historical information about the topic addressed.
